The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has, in just a span of a few months, flexed its muscle in the smartphone market, not quite unseating the Korean company’s Galaxy S3 but proven to be a worthy co-flagship. It is also a phone (or a phablet) that doesn’t come cheap. Sprint, AT&T and Verizon Wireless all offer the Galaxy Note 2 for $299.99 on a two-year contract, while T-Mobile offers it for even more, for the whopping contract price of $379.99, which is after a $50 mail-in rebate. Fortunately, sites like Amazon Wireless have been kind enough to offer the Note 2 at reduced pricing, and it was just last week when the site had reduced the Sprint Galaxy Note 2’s price to $149.99 subsidized.
However, this week the Sprint Galaxy Note 2 costs even less, as new Sprint customers can purchase the device on contract for just $99.99. The contract may sound like the only catch, but aside from that, the deal only covers new subscribers. Existing customers adding a line or upgrading their existing one will have to pay $199.99, which is still a hundred dollars cheaper than what it normally would cost. And there is yet another catch – there have been reports that both Marble White and Titanium Gray flavors of the Sprint Galaxy Note 2 are back-ordered by 1-2 weeks. That means there’s a good chance buyers will have to wait until the start of 2013 before receiving their devices.
Buying a back-ordered Galaxy Note 2 on Amazon Wireless , however, may still be a better choice for a lot of consumers. First of all, the pricing is extremely low, a third of what the Note 2 would sell outside of the holiday season. And second, purchasing online saves buyers the inconvenience of having to drive in bumper-to-bumper traffic just to make an in-store purchase of a device that may not even be in stock at your time of arrival.
